Let’s try this again…

Happy January!

Early last year, I created a website that I loved. But something just wasn’t quite right. One problem was that the blog on my website only allowed me to upload one photo per post. ONE?! They must be crazy. How could I narrow down my thoughts into just one little photo? I also felt that my website didn’t fully portray who I was as a person & photographer. I wanted my clients to see my website and feel a connection. 2014 was busier than expected, and I was so thankful & delightfully surprised. That meant creating a new website was on the back burner. Fast forward to now. My husband just had a nice chunk of time off of work & was kind enough to help me finish this little beauty. I still believe that it’s a work in progress, as I’m sure I will tweak it here and there.

2014 was amazing, personally & professionally. There were, of course, some not so noteworthy times as well (but who wants to dwell on the past?!) I shot my first destination wedding in the beautiful Isla Mujeres. It’s off the coast of Cancun and it’s a pretty small island (about 5 miles wide) that is simply gorgeous. I brought along my handsome hubby to be my assistant and neither of us had traveled anywhere tropical before. It was an incredible 5 days of our lives, even the day we sat at the pool bar while it poured rain! I’ll be writing an entire post about it this week, stay tuned!

This past year, I stood up in one of my friend’s weddings & watched some of my favorite friends welcome sweet little babes into their family. Zack and I didn’t do anything too incredible such as buy a house or have a baby, but 2014 was all about us. We worked hard and tried to figure out what our next step was. At the end of the year and after quite a few interviews, Zack was offered a great position at a new job. He took a leap of faith and left a job he had been at for 8 years. Yes, that’s right, we both reaped the Starbucks benefits & discount for the past 8 years (well, I’ve been enjoying it for the last 5 years)! Our life seems more normal now, for the first time ever. He leaves for work at 8 and is home before 5. It gives me more of a routine and I love having him home to cook dinner 😉

The next few months will be spent getting organized for this year & going through some personal photos. I hope to take my camera with me more this year. Last year I didn’t bring my camera with me to many family events and I wish that I had.

I hope everyone is feeling refreshed as their kids go back to school (yay, right?!) and get back into a routine. I know I got more than a few of my days mixed up over Christmas & New Years. Today is Monday, my friends. Have some coffee & don’t forget to watch Ellen!

PS- I have many goals this year, but the funniest & probably most simple is to have a professional take our Christmas photos. This is what happens when you use a self timer:IMG_0009IMG_0008
